We are delighted to announce the appointment of Danielle Ruane as the Chief Coordinating Officer (CCO) for Healthwatch in Greater Manchester (HW in GM).
This is a significant milestone for our network. The CCO role has been created to provide strong, strategic leadership across all 10 local Healthwatch organisations, ensuring we continue to work collaboratively and effectively as the voice of the public in health and care across Greater Manchester.
Why this matters
Healthwatch has a proud track record of amplifying local voices, influencing change, and helping services understand the experiences of real people. With the CCO role in place, we are strengthening our capacity to:
- Respond to system-wide challenges with one clear voice
- Ensure lived experiences shape strategy and services
- Focus on priorities like mental health, children and young people’s care, and tackling health inequalities
The appointment of a CCO marks the start of an exciting chapter where we can build even stronger partnerships and achieve greater impact for local communities.

“I’m excited to take on this role and to work with such a dedicated network. Healthwatch in Greater Manchester is uniquely placed to influence meaningful change across the health and social care system. I look forward to working with our local Healthwatch teams, the ICS, and community partners to ensure that we remain a strong, independent voice, making sure every voice is heard and acted upon.”

With Danielle as CCO, our network is well positioned to drive forward the ambitions set out in our All-Age Strategy and Partnership Agreement. Over the coming months, we will be focusing on key priorities, including:
- Strengthening the way public feedback shapes ICS decision-making
- Launching our data insight repository for Greater Manchester
- Continuing to highlight and address inequalities in health and care services
